Which dance tempos burn the most calories in zumba class?

In zumba class, some songs are faster than others. A good instructor will start out the class with a warmup that starts to raise the heart rate. The next couple of songs will gradually bring your heart rate up. The songs inbetween can vary from fast to slow and then the last one or two songs should gradually slow you down and end up with a stretch.

So which music types are good for faster tempos and elevating the heart rate? Actually most songs can act as great calorie burners if you incorporate fitness moves such as plyometric jumps. But here are a few music styles that really get the heart pumping:

1 - Quebradita - this is a Mexican rhythm. Very lively. Lots of hopping and can move side to side- can be very fast.
2 - Samba - this Brazilian rhythm can be fast or slow but when you use samba lunges which hop side to side as well as the samba basic (similar to a triple-step) it is very aerobic.
3 - Calypso/soca - this Carribean rhythm can also be fast and use hopping moves, triple steps that bounce and large arm movements.
4 - Bhangra - an Indian style music that can use hopping moves and large arm movements that raise the heart rate.
5 - a fast merengue - this will not only use fast dance moves but the lively music pumps up the adrenaline as well.
