Zumba Fitness DVD Sets- which one should you buy?

There are currently three different versions of Zumba DVD sets for sale now plus a special collection offered only on QVC.com.

So which one do you buy?

The NEWEST version, Zumba Fitness Exhilarate DVD Set, has just been released this year. The sets and production are much more elaborate than previous versions. You also get more workouts on a total of seven DVD's but the price tag is about twenty dollars more than the previous set.

The 2008 Zumba Fitness Total Body Transformation Set is still a very good set with 4 DVD's that contain six workouts. It also comes with a set of toning sticks.

There is also a 4-DVD set from 2003 that can be bought. Some of these are used. This set is pretty outdated but it costs half of what the others cost.

To make it even more confusing there is a special collection that you can get only on QVC.com. This Zumba DVD set includes discs from the 2008 set along with a fitness concert DVD, bonus toning workouts, the toning sticks and three music CD's. It also costs the most.

So which one should you buy? I have watched the 2003, 2008 and the new 2011 sets. The brand new 2011 Zumba Fitness Exhilarate DVD Set is the BEST. There are more workouts and it is just more fun to watch. There are alot of fun bonus tracks like "meet the instructors" and "ripping and cutting your zumbawear."

Have you watched the new DVD set yet? What do you think?

i bought the 2008 set from the tv promotional. It is a good set and I got it for three payments of 19.99 or 59.99 plus $12.00 one time shipping. It not only has the 3 cd pack but also came with the sticks, the concert and a book called Total Body Transformation Guide.

I used to do a zumba class and really loved the music most, I felt it really motivated me because it was so current and I could sing along. I'm looking at buying a dvd set so I can get back in to it but I want to know what music is on each set so I can choose which to buy. Anyone point me in the right direction to finding out? Do the dvds use the same routines as those in classes? Many thanks

Hi M:
The music used on the Zumba DVD's are cover songs, not original music like you may have heard in classes. The music on the most recent Zumba DVD set is probably the best, plus there is more of it than on the previous sets. You can preview the music here: Best of Exhilarate - music from new Zumba DVD set
As for the routines used in classes, every instructor is allowed to create their own choreography so you probably won't see the same exact routine as you see on the DVD's. You will however see similar steps, so if you just learn the steps from the DVD you will be able to follow the instructor in the class.

I love the Zumba video set from 2008. I got them earlier this year and do them faithfully just about every day. If you are just starting out, this is a great set to start with. However, I just got the new Exhilerate Set and I love them too. It is, in my opinion, very different from the other videos. Different choreography, different dance moves, but I am starting to get use to it. Either way, you won't be disappointed. My favorite over all it the Zumba Live DVD with the flat abs. So much fun! Zumba is fun no matter what.

THANK YOU...I have been doing Zumba in the gym for the past 6 months or more. I LOOOOOOOOVE it. I have PHENOMINAL instructors and I've tried the, "are you kidding me?" instructors, to where even the senior citizens were NOT happy with the class because it was WAY too slow. Zumba is VERY similar to a drug. Once you get a taste of the BEST stuff, you search and search for that next "fix" (and NO I've never been a druggie I can surely say based on the interpretations of drug addicts in comedies and movies this is how I am when it comes to Zumba). God forbid if your favorite instructor takes a day off; gets sick; has to work their "real" job; or take a maternity leave, and their replacement makes you want to just walk out of the class. I found myself frantically searching local gyms in my area that may be teaching a class later in the evening so I can get my fix. Sadly, I just didn't trust I would be able to obtain the exhilarating high I get from the workouts I get from 3 of my favorite Zumba instructors. I've been contemplating purchasing the DVDs in order to not be sadly disappointed from an instructor who can’t stand up to the pedestal I’ve put my favorite instructors on. Prior to reading your blog, I was a bit skeptical about purchasing the DVDs. After reading your blog and the comments, I can truly say it's helped. I burn (depending on the instructor and how I feel) between 700 to over 1000 calories per session. I'd LOVE to be able to Zumba 5 - 6 times per week, unfortunately the instructors I prefer aren't available as I need them at the times and/or the 2 gyms I belong to. I will be purchasing the 2011 set today. Hopefully I never have to frantically search for that fix, I can work out at home on the days I or my favorite instructors are NOT available. Thanks again for the help.

I bought the 2008 set and really enjoyed it. I saw results almost immediately. I liked it so well, that I bought the Zumba Exilerate. I didn't like it as well as the first set. It's just like a movie, the first one is awesome and then you just can't make a second version as good as the first. I like the second set of DVD's , but I love the first set. Also, Tonya and Gina were awesome. In the Exilerate, it's more flinging of the hair and trying to be impressive instead of getting down to business.
