Dance Camp - an amazing experience

I just came back from a week long dance immersion camp called Beantown Dance Camp. It is a week long dance immersion in vintage dances such as lindy hop, balboa and charleston.

It was an amazing experience, not just for the dancing, but the camaraderie between like-minded people coming together from places all over the world to share their passion of dance.

The event was on a college campus so that everybody can live, eat and dance in the same place. Besides dance lessons all day long and some in the evening there were competitions, performances and talent shows. It was really non-stop entertainment.

I was surprised that my body held up so well. I was just a little sleep deprived but that did not stop me from having fun.

I noticed that there were many different types of shoes being worn. But most people did wear shoes that were chromed for easy sliding, pivoting and spinning. Shoes such as Aris Allen Women's Black Classic Canvas Dance Sneakers Suede Sole were popular. They are a chromed version of the classic Keds canvas sneakers. A shoe chroming class helped everyone chrome their own shoes. One guy was wearing his chromed Teva's in class!

If you ever get a chance to participate in a dance camp I highly recommend it. It will be the best vacation you ever had.
